KIDS’ SUMMER NATURE CAMP
June 10 – 13 (Wed – Sat)
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Bring the kids to a fun, four-day nature camp to learn about plants, insects and other nature topics through a variety of crafts, games and activities. The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science will be paying us a special visit on Saturday! Your child will leave camp with an increased appreciation and excitement for nature. Recommended ages 6-12. Pre-registration is required. Please provide a backpack and sack lunch, snacks, drink, sunscreen, hat and water bottle for your child each day. $25 for members’ children; non-members’ children $35
INTRODUCTION TO GARDEN PESTS & DISEASES (Adults)

Join Dr. Gene Blythe, MSU Research Professor in Ornamental Horticulture from the South Mississippi Branch Experiment Station in Poplarville for an overview of common insects and diseases of plants - ornamentals, fruit and vegetables. Learn how insects damage plants and get the low-down on the best pest management strategies. Disease control strategies will also be discussed, with an emphasis on preventative measures, and options other than spraying. Some advice you may recognize, and some will hopefully be new. Free admission for members and $5 for non-members. Please register by June 18.
USING EDIBLE PLANTS IN THE LANDSCAPE

Darla Pastorek, USDA Southern Horticultural Laboratory in Poplarville, will present a program on the popular topic of edible landscaping. Come learn all about Darla’s favorite vegetables and fruits, and how you can grow them in your home garden. She will also discuss some outstanding native plants that will be tasty for both you and your local wildlife. Members free, non-members, $5. Please call to register by June 25.
