Forge Day - January

An all day family event showcasing metalworking organizations from the area. Blacksmithing and metalsmithing techniques will be demonstrated. Enjoy the day of demonstrations or try your hand at the forge.

Wildlife Day - a Thursday in March

Snakes, insects, and skunks, oh my! During this special event for area schools, children will enjoy a variety of exhibits that display live and preserved animals where they will learn how to protect and maintain Mississippi wildlife.

Strawberries and Cream - a Sunday in April

Bring the family and join us to celebrate the history of the old strawberry farm at the lovely Pinecote Pavilion. Ice cream, fresh strawberries, and Picayune Frog Lemonade will be served. Free admission.

Summer Nature Camp - a Tuesday-Friday in June

Children ages 6 through 12 will enjoy this four-day camp where they will learn about nature through fun hands-on lessons, games, and activities. Your child will leave camp with an increased appreciation and excitement about nature.

Bugfest - a Friday and Saturday in September

Two-day family event that includes field collecting and mounting insects, children's crafts and activities, and other buggy fun. Past BugFests have featured visits by the New Orleans Insectarium.

Piney Woods Heritage Festival - a Friday and Saturday in November

Two-day family event that features craft and skill demonstrations which reflect the regional culture of the Piney Woods in Mississippi. Along the trails, visitors will discover exhibits such as spinning, basket-making, blacksmithing, woodcarving, beekeeping, Native American culture, and much more.

Arboretum Open House - a Saturday in December

Join us for the Arboretum's annual holiday open house celebration. Come browse the gift shop and the work of local artists. Light refreshments will be served. Program is free and open to the public.
