FORAGING WORKSHOP:

“Wild Edibles and Useful Plants of the Gulf South”

Dr. Charles Allen

Saturday, May 6, 1:00 to 3:30 PM

See, smell, taste, and learn many of the wild edibles in our area! Dr. Charles Allen has authored numerous books and publications on native plants of the Gulf Coast. He will provide an enlightening program on foraging for wild edibles and useful plant species. The workshop begins with a brief discussion of plants gathered by Dr. Allen, and a “hands-on, mouth-on, and nose-on” overview of the uses of each, and jars of dried aromatic leaves and other spices to smell. The group will then journey down the trails to find plants on the trails and Pollinator Garden. At the end of the walk, participants will have the chance to sample freshly brewed teas from an assortment of dried plants prepared for sipping. Members $15, non-members $20.
