Plant Nutrition: Going Beyond the “Big Three”
Saturday, May 17, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Plants make their own food, so why do we “feed” them all sorts of nutrients? What happens if they don’t get enough of these essential compounds? What role does water play in plant health? How does soil pH affect nutrient uptake? What are some signs of plant malnourishment? Paul Andres will demystify plant nutrition basics and the roles of 15 macro- and micro-nutrients, and why plants might need them. Discussion is welcome, and there will be time for questions at the end. Paul is retired, with a strong science and math background, and is a lifelong gardener. Plants are a thread woven throughout his tapestry. Members $3, non-members $6.
